The Trauma Center at San Jose Regional Medical Center
The Regional Medical of San Jose treats more than 2,000 patients each year for traumatic or life-threatening illnesses and injuries. In fact, our accredited Level II Trauma Center was designated as one of the three trauma centers that constitute the trauma-care system in Santa Clara County by the County Board of Supervisors.
Our Level II Trauma Center includes a three-bed resuscitation bay located in the 39-bed emergency department, a 24-bed intensive care unit, and a fully functioning operating room for trauma victims. All of our services, including laboratory services, radiology, MRI, CT scanning, and blood bank services are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
All of our patients are seen by a multidisciplinary team of experienced, highly-trained specialists including trauma surgeons, trauma nurses, orthopedic surgeons, neurosurgeons, vascular surgeons, plastic surgeons, respiratory therapists, physical therapist, case managers, and social workers. This multidisciplinary team ensures that all medical subspecialties and aspects of care are coordinated to match the needs of each individual trauma patient. In this way, our doctors, nurses, and support staff help to decrease the mortality rate for patients suffering from traumatic injuries.
Our facility also strives to provide easier access to the trauma system in the event of an emergency. When you call 9-1-1, your call launches a response team of highly trained paramedics to assess your injuries and determine what level of care is needed.
